The final assessments for both Professional and Experience Design were the first assessments in over 8 years that I had to do in a group of people. Being designers, we are constantly exposed to having to work with other people, which I think is a positive thing that in the masters they try to enforce that on us. It is important to learn what you are good at and how to work with other people.
In the case of Colletivo, it was easy for Julia and me to focus on certain areas. Me, being an Interior Designer, had to focus on those areas, while Julia, being a Graphic Designer, had to focus on those. But other areas of the business plan where not either for a graphic or an interior designer, and this was the moment in which each person had to really focus on their strengths.

Julia’s was finances and numbers, that has never been my strength, I have always struggled with that, so I felt extremely lucky to have Julia there to focus on that aspect. In my case, I have always been good when it comes to research and putting things into words. Therefore, I was more focused on the market research, competitor analysis, operation plan, value proposition and customer segments.
As Geoff said in one of the classes, in any business it is important to know what the strengths and weaknesses of each team member are. It is no good to have two people that are good or bad on the same things. Therefore, I think I ended up making a good work with Julia. We both knew what our strengths where and we tried to focus on each of them, leaving the other one to release their strengths in their specific terrain.
This was also stated in the final report: The idea emerged when team members combined their interests and knowledge in graphic and interior design to create a studio that could tailor both, but also, a place were that same client or any other, could by the missing element for their home décor.

One of the most beautiful things of this project was the concept behind it. Julia is a very emotional person, I feel I am more rational and practical, but this was another thing that helped us do something amazing. The result was this definition of the concept: Colletivo is inspired by the natural elements around us, such as the beach, the sun, the sand, and the sound of the waves. We believe in the power of this elements to create and inspire… In Colletivo we solve problems by exploring all the creative aspects behind a client and its project.
So if someone is also interested in investing in this idea of a project, please, contact me or Julia, because this is another idea that I think could result in something pretty awesome.
